The economic success of the first Cocoon hotel in Lindwurmstraße in München emboldened the hotelier, Johnannes Eckelmann, to invest in further Cocoon hotels. The “second” Cocoon is a repositioning of an existing hotel in the vicinity of Karlsplatz in Munich. This 1970’s building located on the Munich Market was transformed into a “Cocoon” and opened with great success in January 2012. The clear classification of the hotel as a lifestyle budget design hotel boosted its popularity and this was rapidly reflected in profitability.

The new design was adapted to the existing floor plans and contributes with many imaginative details to the success of the Cocoon 2.
