In the current issue of the AHGZ “Hotel Design” magazine - focus on remodeling and renovation - architect Oliver Massabni was asked to what extent a good conception and planning is crucial as a success-critical basis for the change to a design hotel. It is clearly explained which particular challenges the hotelier but also the architect face when an existing hotel is to be converted into a design hotel and successfully repositioned.


The conception and planning phase was particularly targeted here. With the new development and successful repositioning to a design hotel, the foundation stone for success is laid in the conception and planning phase. The best examples of this are the Hotel Daniel in Graz (awarded as “Hotel Property of the Year” in 2006) or the Hotel Cocoon in Munich.
